This short film is based on the novel 2084, written by my father, Kirk Combe. We’d spoken a lot about the plot while he was writing the book, and as a result, we had a deep shared understanding of the material. The sci-fi setting was a perfect vehicle for the socioeconomic themes of wage slavery and the power of collective bargaining, and because of this, much of the set and technology had to be either built or created with CGI.
